Lives you can save with your power

TUMIQUI Project

A world where mothers die just because they don't have electricity. It was a heart-wrenching shock for Koichi Sato, an international entrepreneur who has been active on the front lines of electricity and communications for many years. ``There must be something I can do.What is really needed locally?''Thus, the Tumiqui Project was born, a process of accumulating people's thoughts and skills. In May 2019, we signed a memorandum of understanding with the Senegalese Ministry of Health and began taking a unique approach to addressing the many challenges faced by clinics. To date, we have introduced TSK (Tsumiki Smart Kit) to 10 clinics, contributing to over 1,000 births. At the Hore clinic, one TSK machine has been in operation for three years without any breakdowns, and has successfully completed approximately 180 night births. The number of people in Africa without electricity is 600 million. There are many lives that can be saved with your help.

Local issues

~Mother and child die due to lack of electricity~

There are mothers who die due to lack of stable electricity during childbirth. Sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 68% of the global maternal deaths. Since the 1980s, Africa's population has grown at the fastest pace in the world, with an estimated 600 million people living without electricity. The medical field still needs a lot of support.

what we can do

~Providing stable power to medical sites~

We have developed the TUMIQUI Smart Kit, a solar power generation system that anyone can easily use. By combining a solar panel, main body (Tsumiki unit), rechargeable LED lamp, and Wifi as a set, USB charging and small IT and medical devices can now be used in clinics during the day and night. Since 2019, TUMIQUI has been introduced to 10 clinics in non-electrified villages, and to date, more than 1,000 medical treatments and safe childbirths have been realized using TUMIQUI's light. Furthermore, by being able to use a computer at all times, the management environment for drug inventory and patient information, which had previously been managed by hand, has improved, and we have succeeded in increasing the time we spend on daily medical care.

Importance of connecting to health system

Previously, clinics without internet facilities had to go to the central hospital on two closed days in order to input and send health data using a computer. Since TUMIQUI has a built-in wireless communication function, it is possible to input and send data from the clinic, making it possible to reduce the number of closed days.

 (Dr. Bai Cham)

``At the clinic, we have early morning and night medical examinations and births almost every day, but due to a lack of electricity, we sometimes have to use candles or hold flashlights in our mouths. were always at risk for their lives, but with this TUMIQUI Smart Kit,
Electricity and lamps have made safe medical treatment and childbirth possible. It's really helpful. ”

TUMIQUI Smart Kit (TSK)

The Tsumiki unit is equipped with a wifi router, LED light, 4 USB ports, and 2 AC power supplies. When the battery is full, it can charge a smartphone 24 times, a fan for 9 hours, a portable refrigerator for 6 hours, a computer for 5 hours, and an LED lamp for 24 hours. The rechargeable LED lamp can be divided into three stages and can be used for up to three consecutive days.
